Alain Beauchemin, a Jehovah's Witness minister named as one of the plaintiffs in the case, said he was "very, very pleased."
"People have the right to interchange on different ideas -- social, political, religious ideas -- and it's not the right of the city to play Big Brother -- this is what the Court of Appeal has said," Beauchemin commented.

Funny they are not allowed by the organization to exchange ideas...the usual way to handle "discussions" is to "consult the Society's publications".

Of course I would call the cops on them, it should be illegal for them to preach door to door at any other time than Mon-Fri 9-5, and if a person has a do not disturb or no soliciting sign and they go ahead and knock on the door, there should be a $1000 fine.

As a YOUNG loyal JW, did you think you would see you're 60th birthday ?

with all the talk in the organization about the end being so close, and we have all heard this story over and over again for years, as a young/loyal jw, did you think you would see your 60th birthday.. if we were to walk into the kingdom hall today and poll all the jw's under 30, and ask them "will you see your 60th birthday", what kind of response would you get ???.

armageddon is not coming, the year 2014 will pass, as will 2025, 2075, 2100, and even 3000. .

would love to hear experiences from some of the older ones on this board, who probaly thought the same thing when they were young.

I'd always found that the elderly were more certain that the end was right around the corner and there was no use planning for your future but the younger generation has smartened up. I'd personally never believed that Armageddon was right around the corner and thought that I'd live till 80 and the I'd die. But apparently modern science can have us living till 125 when we're old.

Hate to go in face of tradition but Jesus was very poor and so was the entire town of Nazereth, he probably would not have had much of an education at all (probably mostly from Mary and other members of his family, Joseph died early in Jesus' life). This is probably the reason why Mary and Joseph were so suprised to see him discussing theology with the Doctors of the Law.

it got me thinking, about tv shows, anything in particular you were told not to watch, being a little kid in the 70's i do remember hearing shows from the platform that we should not watch.

Couldn't watch anything like the X-files but I was allowed to watch violent stuff. My grandma told me that Star Wars was inspired by demons, this from a rumour started in her congregation.

how do you now understand the world... and your place in it?.

i personally believe in evolution... and also a "higher power"... it seems more and more people are drifting away from organized religion, but they are then left searching for meaning and purpose..... going to college/university and studying a normal curriculum, one is exposed to philosophy, the socrates and platos of history, who in many ways started widespread discussion on such topics as above.

some sort of philosophy has to be studied i believe, just so one can understand the history of man, from that point in time and how we came to christianity in the first place.. however, it is a very personal matter, as we must all find our own answers.. i believe it is natural for people to be drawn to ponderings of purpose and god, and there are many ways to seek connection to that souce.

I believe in the One, Holy, Apostolic and Catholic Church. I mean if you want to be christian there is no real alternative unless if you completely ignore the bible and realise that all protestantism is formed as a result of man's opinion whilst the Catholic church is the same church Christ founded.

Read "The Development of Christian Doctrine" (found online) by John Henry Cardinal Newman. There is no basis for the doctrine of Sola Scriptura. Sorry for the non-angered rant :) ... and bad grammar
